Italian herb garden

What exactly is an Italian herb garden and how is it different than the usual indoor herb gardens? Well essentially an Italian herb garden is simply a collection of herbs that fall into the Italian range of cooking. Now this explanation may be very simplistic in nature but it turns out that an Italian herb garden may take a little more work than your average indoor herb gardens do.

The reason an Italian herb garden can be a little trickier to pull off than a regular herb garden is you have to have the right mix of herbs to truly have it qualify. If you do not have the right herbs then essentially all you are doing is building a regular herb garden. So what herbs do you need to make your normal herb garden into an Italian herb garden?

Italian Herb Garden – What Sort of Herbs?

Typically in an Italian kitchen you will see the following staple herbs for almost every meal – chives, basil, and oregano and these are the main herbs you want to pick up on for your Italian herb garden. I am personally a big fan of all three of these herbs and use them daily even though I am not Italian! Obviously being Italian has nothing to do with growing an Italian herb garden but I wanted to make a point that essentially anyone can do it.

Imagine the awesomeness of clipping some fresh herbs from your Italian herb garden just as you are cooking your own home made spaghetti sauce. The addition of fresh herbs to a pasta dish can really send the final flavor through the roof.
